Hexaditidom

Hard to believe it's been about 10 years since I joined this place! That was right when the whole Jark vs Spyed debacle was going on, and when making emoticons and plz-accounts and spamming them all over the forums was a sure path to superstardom. (Maybe it still is? I don't know.) Throughout this site's dozen or so design overhauls, I've met a lot of great artists and friends who have helped shape my art style. I loved doing art trades, and I launched commissions while I was here. I also got to participate in a few OCT's like WIFL, Alabaster, Eden, WMOCT, and Cooking Wars, and I enjoyed participating in groups like Taurclub and ArmsArmy.

Unfortunately half the people I watch here, at some point, ceased to upload and just linked to their tumblr (half of whom have waaaay too high a reblog-to-art ratio.) When I upload art to multiple sites, dA takes by far the longest -- it feels like filling out tax forms. Why is there still such an extensive tree of meaningless categories? Then there's dA's long history of virus-riddled ads, topped off with an intrusive nagbox. Although I use blockers for security and safety reasons, not everyone does, and I don't want to point people to a site with this kind of reputation.

There's also my character/username Hexaditidom, which I chose because I wanted to ensure the name would be unclaimed wherever I went. While I'm still fond of him as a character, I've mostly moved on from the Planet B universe. It's also been a chore to spell out the name whenever I wanted to share my page with others. (I don't want to bother doing a name change here.) I find Hexadoodle is much more shareable and accessible as a character and a username.

So I went over my watchlist and tried to re-follow as many people as I could on other art sites, and those I couldn't find, I added to my RSS feed. So I'll probably be checking in now and again, but rarely. Don't expect replies to comments or favorites, though they are appreciated! I won't close this account or delete any of the artwork, but I also won't be uploading here from now on. Maybe this place will turn around, and if it does, I'll come back.

Furaffinity - Yeah, it's not a great site either, but the network effect is the only thing keeping it alive. My art style seems to fit this niche pretty well.
Weasyl - Seems to be doing well as an alternative to Furaffinity.
