I'm gonna get back to making Planet B this monday. In this gap I've finished the painting (pics are forthcoming) and found a very interesting website,
Tropes (Thank you ~
lhhog ) And inevitably, I've asked myself why I make Planet B. Standard answers - because it's fun, because I love to improve...
Man. 10 years ago, I'm the last person in the world I imagine would make a comic, or anything funny.
Deep down, my sense of humor is just about nonexistent. I've been known to take things seriously serious, and been told many many times to "geeze lighten up!" I also tend to take jokes personally, misunderstand sarcasm
A LOT, and hate media whose popularity exceeds its talent/creativity, and/or presents a message I disagree with. I must have had (and still do) have some kind of paranoia that if something is funny enough and draws a big enough audience, its messages will have a powerful influence, for better or for worse.
Which is part of the reason why I make a comic, and create in general.
Because dang it, I want to have some influence too.
I'm not entirely clear on where I'm going with this. What I can say though, is that I don't like the direction America is going. And I have this delusion that, by doing what I do, I can influence it, if only a little bit, for the better... as if I was some kind of authority. And why not? Just about every other big-name show/comic/whatever acts like one.
It only serves to be a blessing that I'm not an influence, because I certainly DON'T want to be a wrong influence, and I'm often wrong. I'd end up just like "them".
I REALLY don't like the direction America is going.
But, as I have had to remind myself since always... I need to stop worrying about what is out of my hands.
And that's why I make a comic. To pretend that I have a sense of humor, to pretend that everything's all right.
Also. New song of the month (dmusic), and on my
Youtube you'll find a bonus song

Devious Comments
Isn't that the whole idea of cartoons/comics though - to forget what's happening in the real world, to dive into a different world, have a laugh?
I assume that by saying "I don't like the way America's going" you mean the presidential elections. IMO, I really don't think it matters who is in that White House, they just lie and hypocrisise all the same. So you're right, it really is out of anyone's hands I guess.

FAQ #352: deviantART deleted my art because they're Nazis and this site sucks, what should I do?
"Cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it!" ~ A notable deviant
Actually I'm most of the time a really happy and funny person, but I can't tell jokes and then I make people laugh without even wanting it (sometimes kind of embarrasing).
But with comics I found a wonderful way to show people my weird and funny thoughts and ideas!
And if you don't like America anymore, join us in merry old Europe! It's very nice here!

Anyway I admire anyone with the patience to do a comic.

I'm starting just because I want to see if I can make other people laugh. Also, it helps to have written out jokes, because then you can throw them in conversation 'cause you can remember them.

My story
Don't get me wrong though -- I feel blessed to live in this country. It's just that it's going in a direction that I don't think the founding fathers would have wanted.
